During his seminar, Omirbek Hanayi touched upon the geostrategic and geopolitical importance of the Central Asian region for China, and the current state of China's foreign policy in Central Asia. Moreover, he talked about the trade and economic relations between China and Central Asia, and China's soft power policy in Central Asia.

The training program focused on exploring the latest analysis of theory and practice of advocacy. Participants learned key examples of successful advocacy campaigns and techniques that have been effective.

Regional integration is based on several conditions such as geographical proximity, economic complementarity and similarity, as well as cultural and ideological communication. It facilitates political systems, negotiation processes and social structure.

On September 19, 2017, ERI Senior Research Fellow Dauren Aben attended the international roundtable titled “Kazakhstan’s Path to a Nuclear-Free World” which was held at the Department of International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Dr. Vakur Sumer has been appointed as the new Director of Eurasian Research Institute. He replaces Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevzat Simsek, who has managed the Institute in its institutionalization process since August of 2014.

Anna Gussarova in the seminar titled "Russia's Soft Power in Kazakhstan and Central Asia" gave various information about the concept of soft power, Russia's soft power understanding and the steps taken in this direction.

Saule Akhmetkaliyeva during the seminar titled "Paris Agreement on Climate Change" provided detailed information on the agreement itself, as well as information on the advantages and disadvantages of the agreement. She stated that the Paris Agreement was United Nations framework agreement on the issue of climate change.

Kanat Makhanov outlined the structure of the economy and manufacturing sector of Kazakhstan and the effects of the Dutch disease on Kazakhstan's economy. Looking at the economic structure of Kazakhstan between 2000 and 2015, he stated that the share of the service sector had increased over the years and it had mostly reduced the share of the agricultural sector.

In his seminar titled "Kazakhstan National Fund: Problems and Prospects", Daniyar Nurbayev outlined the historical development, purpose, functions and mission of the National Fund of Kazakhstan. Nurbayev also analyzed the impact of the Fund's current situation and current external macroeconomic volatility.
