On March 15, 2019, the civil war in Syria which started after Syrian armed forces used brutal force to crack down on protesters demanding the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad entered its ninth year. The escalation of the conflict between the government and the opposition forces has turned the country into one big battlefield forcing millions of Syrians to leave their homes.
