Developments in Migration and Remittance Flow in Central Asia

The Eurasian Research Institute invites you to participate in the Politics, Foreign Affairs and Security Studies Seminar titled “Developments in Migration and Remittance Flow in Central Asia” by Zhengizkhan Zhanaltay, which would be held on November 03, 2016. Millions of Central Asian migrant workers searching job opportunities abroad. Majority of them choose to migrate to Russia due to visa free regime, familiar language and higher salaries. Looking at the destinations of remittance inflow to Central Asian countries Russia is the main source destination where over 60% of the remittance inflow to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan comes from Russia. In the seminar effects of the depreciation of Ruble against US Dollar, sharp fall of oil prices and new changes in law on migration to labor migrants’ arrival numbers and remittance amount issues will be discussed.
