Dr. Umit Bashar, Senior Research Fellow of the Iran Studies Center and Lecturer at Ankara University of Social Sciences, who started his presentation after the opening speech of Dr. Suat Beylour, Director of the Eurasian Research Institute, gave comprehensive information about the current events in Afghanistan and their regional impact. Speaking briefly about the beginning of the second Taliban era and the fall of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Associate Professor Dr. Umit Bashar spoke about the possible impact of events in Afghanistan on Turkey and Kazakhstan. Noting that a unified administration has been established in Afghanistan, he stated that one of the country’s main problems is the Taliban’s inability to fully share power after taking over the administration.On the other hand, he pointed out that he faced various problems in ensuring political and military stability in Afghanistan. According to him, among these issues, the anti-Taliban attitude of various terrorist organisations can adversely affect the security of the country.
In the continuation of the seminar, associate professor Dr. Umit Bashar expressed that there are many problems in terms of basic needs and there are difficulties in finding food. Speaking about the global impact of the situation in Afghanistan, especially in neighbouring countries, he gave various information about the difficulties of Afghan refugees. He said that instability in Afghanistan may have negative consequences in terms of regional energy, transport, and trade routes, and these issues are worrying neighbouring countries and important actors in the region.
At the end of the seminar, participants exchanged opinions on the topic. The director of the Eurasian Research Institute, Dr. Suat Beylur, thanked Associate Professor Dr. Umit Bashar for sharing valuable information at the seminar.
